The Great Purge vs. the Terrible Breakout

The Great Purge vs. the Terrible Breakout

You may have noticed that your skin tends to go through certain...phases. Some are good (glowing, even-toned, wrinkle-free), and some are not so good (dry, dull, covered in zits). If you're lucky, you might even experience both extremes at different times during your life. But what's the difference between these two skin conditions? Let's take a closer look at purging vs. breakouts.

Purging is when your skin is going through a "adjustment period" as it gets used to a new product. This usually happens within the first few weeks of using a new skincare routine. During this time, you may see an increase in blemishes as your skin tries to get rid of all the gunk that's been clogging up your pores for who knows how long. But don't worry, this is totally normal! Once your skin adjusts to the new products, things should settle down and you'll be back to your usual self in no time.

Breakouts, on the other hand, are not caused by new products. They're usually due to hormones, stress, diet, or just genetics. And unfortunately, there's no real "cure" for breakouts—you just have to wait them out until they go away on their own (which can be super frustrating, we know). However, there are certain things you can do to help manage breakouts and make them less visible. For example, you can use spot treatments or face masks specifically designed for acne-prone skin.

So there you have it—the difference between purging and breakouts! Keep in mind that if you're ever unsure about what's going on with your skin, it's always best to consult with a dermatologist or skincare professional. They'll be able to give you the most accurate diagnosis and advise you on the best course of action.
