Fall into Good Skin Habits

Fall into Good Skin Habits

As the weather cools and we break out our sweaters and jeans, our skin often breaks out, too. Suddenly, we're seeing pimples popping up that we haven't seen in months. But why does this happen? The answer, my friend, is in the pumpkin spice latte—or, more specifically, in the change of diet that comes with the cooler weather.

Sweets and other processed foods are a major culprit when it comes to breakouts. When we indulge in sugary drinks and snacks, they cause spikes in our blood sugar levels. This, in turn, triggers a release of insulin, which tells our bodies to store fat. And when our bodies store fat, they produce more sebum—the oily substance that leads to clogged pores and breakouts. So, if you're looking to keep your skin clear this fall, cut back on the sweets!

Another dietary issue that can lead to breakouts is dairy. Dairy products contain hormones that can trigger inflammation, which can lead to redness and blemishes. So, if you're noticing more breakouts than usual this fall, take a close look at your diet. You may be consuming more dairy than usual without realizing it!

Breakouts are no fun for anyone—but they are especially frustrating because they often seem to pop up out of nowhere. However, there is a reason for those seasonally-induced pimples: namely, the change in diet that accompanies the cooler weather. So, if you're looking to keep your skin clear this fall, cut back on the sweets and dairy! By making some simple adjustments to your diet, you can enjoy all the best things about fall without worrying about your skin!
